Mr Chew is a Chartered Accountant Fellow (FCA, CAANZ) and member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) with extensive experience in business advisory, government consulting, corporate management and board positions. He started his public practice career in 1980 after graduating from University of Auckland, New Zealand, and retired as a senior worldwide partner of Arthur Andersen in 2002. He has directed many government consulting projects involving public policy and sectoral reform, corporatisation and privatisation of regulated monopolies such as airports, broadcasting, telecommunication, utilities as well as build-operate-transfer (BOT) & private public partnership (PPP) of new infrastructure projects in highways, ports and public services. Mr Chew’s business advisory experience for GLCs and PLCs include corporate turnarounds, performance management, cost optimisation and change management. From 2004 to 2008, he was Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Dataprep Holdings Bhd, a Bursa Malaysia-listed IT services provider. During the period from 2008 to 2010, he was the Managing Director of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad’s strategic advisory division. He was a commission member at Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for two terms between 2013 to 2021. He was a board member of Zico Holdings Inc, a Catalist company on Singapore Exchange between 2016-2024. Currently, he is a board member of MISC Berhad (Bursa Malaysia).
